Hawk Pads

Any experience or recommendation on Hawk ceramic pads?

I'm not fond of OEM pads for two reasons; 1) they are noisy and 2) they are too damn dusty.

So far Powerstop doesn't have anything (according to their catalogue) for 2013 and neither does EBC. Hawk is the next company I know of that makes a decent pad. I've never actually used their pads--it was always Powerstop in my Diesel and EBC in my Audi.

You should see how dusty the factory pads are on my Audi.  Drives me insane!  I've found that dust vs noise is always the trade off.  I'd rather they be dusty then noisy myself.

Yeah, my Audi pads were f'n horrendous on my S6. I swapped them for EBC's and couldn't have been happier--until I broke the car. *GASP* Long story but I managed to grenade the V10 (had 06 S6).

Now I want something for the SHO; might go with Hawk--they don't seem too bad and frankly they are the only things available at moment.

I'll be interested to hear what you find out here.  The Explorer is a bit dusty but the black rims make it seem not so bad.  I have a feeling this vehicle won't be brake pad friendly being that it weighs 5000lbs...

Look at the Powerstop pads; they probably have them for your model.  I used their ceramic pads and cryo rotors on my 7k pound diesel and they would stop it REALLY well with 35" tyres and 700bhp twin turbo pushing the ground on 1200lb torque.

Does the Taurus and Explorer Sport share the same brakes? And what is the difference with the PP SHO's brakes?

I had read that the Sport has the police package brakes which are 13.9 front, 13.6 rear rotors. but they seem larger then that to me...

loved my Hawk pads on  previous G35 no dust or squeeks, and stop on a dime. I ran through 2 sets on that car.

THIS WAS POSTED ON ANYOTHER THREAD. I don't know if The 2013-2014 Flex/MKS/& Exploror got got the same upgrade the SHO did or not but if they did then PowerStop had a brake kit for them that should work on the SHO.

BIGMac Question in the 2010-2012 SHO/FLEX brakes were exact the same but AutoAnything only showed the PowerStop brake kit for the 2010 SHO! So I ask them why? They said that some supplyer will not update year date if the parts don't change from one year to the next. So the question is did 2013-2014 Flex/Explorer get the upgrade SHO brake two? If they are still the same between SHO/Flex/Explorer then P-Stop do have brakes for 2013-2014 SHO.
