MyCal Device Slow

I sure miss the xcal I used with my Mustang, this Mycal device is so painfully slow and the car does such weird stuff while it is writing the tune. The xcal would be done in a minute or just over but the Mycal, turn on, turn off, turn on, turn off along with everything else. I may just have to switch tuners and go with Unleashed so I can use the xcal. Question for you xcal owners with the SHO, does it upload the tunes quickly or does it take 5 minute or more like the Mycal. Just curious because if it take as long then there is no reason to go that route. I hate spending money on two devices that do the same thing though but I will.

I had both and I really couldn't tell you that one was faster than the other or that the process was much different.

I also had both, & both involved the same steps, & each took approximately 10min or so.

I didn't find it as painful of a process as you are describing though. It just kind of is what it is.

One thing to keep in mind, is that the amount of tables that are available for adjusting, is enormous in comparison to other models and manufacturer s.

I thought LMS released a firmware update which improved flashing times. At least the one I have for the Explorer.

In the 'Good ole days' we had to remove the ECU, open it up, pull the chip out, either SEND it to a programmer or if you had the Ostrich equip! Write it yourself, then reverse to reassemble. So just comparing to those days, nthe MyCal feels lightning fast to me ;-) I have the MyCal flashes down to about 4 minutes, if you wait to read each scrolled script, its about 6+ minutes. I think the answer to each command is "Y" button so hitting that early helps. Maybe switch to decaf??

I remember those old Hypertech chips, & yes, you are correct.....

It was common practice to open up the ECU to r&r the stock chip with the after market upgrade.

Crazy how much things have advanced.

I guess I am just getting impatient in my old age. I am sure I will get quicker with it the more I use it. I have only used it twice now to load the stage 4 tune and then today to load the stage 4+. I like the + a little better.

Yep mine is much faster after the update. However compared to hptuners on my chevys.....they take less than 20 seconds to flash a new tune. Click and done, lol.

I've been bugging a guy I know that they recently hired to do all their Ford programming to get us some ecoboost tuning capabilities.

I've had both, and think the MyCal is a lot faster then SCT at loading tunes.
