So I went to the track a few weeks back with the Explorer.  I noted it had no traction control on/off button.
I left it in normal, which leaves traction control on.  It was piggish off the line...2.2 60fts.  A few weeks ago I was playing around on a little stretch of asphalt by my house.  I put the knob to sand, turning traction control off.  It seems to take off much stronger, but maybe my imagination, doesn't pull as hard once it shifts past 2nd.  Any thoughts?

I heard that before about pulling harder from a dig in sand mode. I thought we could turn off traction control in the settings display to the left of the gauge cluster.

You can turn it off in the settings tab on the left side display.

Sand mode has higher upshifts (part and mid throttle), crisper throttle response and no 6th gear up shift. A few owners have noted better 1/4 times in sand mode.

I'll report back after the first of the year, once the tracks open back up.  Stock normal vs sand.  Stock vs. LMS, then a LMS normal vs LMS Sand.

You can definitely disable traction control through the settings menu but it resets or enables after the ignition is cycled. Easier just to switch to sand mode.

So I tried sand mode today for the first time in my 4500 miles of ownership and I'd have to say I agree, it does run stronger in sand mode. 2nd gear barks are much stronger, seems to pull to redline a bit quicker as well, good tip!
