It's the law. Insurance won't help you. Winter tires should not cook in the cooler temps. All seasons don't get soft in freezing weather. Looks aren't everything when you are in the ditch. Ya it pisses me off when people say they need their ride to look sweet in the winter. They are a very good driver. Blah blah blah. You never know & IMO I just like to be  prepared & ready.  Unless you live in Florida, nah who wants to live there. Just visit. I hope the peeps who rock all seasons don't get banged up. It sucks eH.

^^^^^If you read my first post you see that I drive 90% of the time on the highway. Commuting is easy enough on the highway that I almost considered running a CTS-V as my daily driver. We do get substantial storms where I live, but I guess the plowing and maintenance is good enough to not require winter tires. Are winter tires better in the snow and ice, yes. Are they needed to keep you out of a ditch, no. I have not once come up short in reaching my destination, even going back to the days of running all seasons on a RWD. And this is even with me chasing the big snow storms to the mountain to go skiing. I think it is just all based on what you are comfortable with.

Tires and rims came in yesterday. The tires actually look to be more aggressive than I anticipated. Hopefully will have them mounted tomorrow:

Up until this weekend my neck of the woods had only received some small snow storms, so I have not had a chance to try the snow traction on the Continental DWS tires. Then yesterday a storm rolled in and dumped 15" of fresh snow. So I was staying up at a ski house and broke out in the early morning before the plows came out in attempt to get the goods on slope. I knew heading out that one of the toughest parts was just going to be getting out of the driveway which has a 90 degree turn out of the parking area and straight up a steep hill. So with the car warmed up I charged at the hill not knowing what would happen. Without a bit of hesitation or massive wheelspin, the SHO clawed its way up and over the hill, even with my lowered front acting as a snow plow. I continued to drive off the mountain where the house was and over to the ski area with absolute confidence I was not going to get stuck or go off the road.
So bottom line is, just go out and get these tires if you want some killer all season snow tires.

I guess Ford DOES know what they are doing with AWD :)  Nice work plowing the streets :thumb:

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

I ran Hankook Ice bears on my old Mazda, I liked them enough I just kept them on all year round,  great in the snow, good in the summer ran them for 3 years before I had to replace them.

I used them on my grand prix GXP. They were really good snow tires. I didn't run them year round like you though I swapped them with RE760 bridgestones in the summer. Once the winter tires started to squeal under hard cornering as it warmed up I knew it was time for my summers lol.
