I have a long history of modifying Mustangs and I still have my beautiful 1968 Mustang that is taken apart more than is it driveable even though I'm now 39 and have had it since I was 13 lol.

I've had 200, 300, 400, 500, 600 and 700 rear wheel horsepower Mustangs and a 400rwhp/500rwtq Harley blown 2003 F150 a few years ago. I've done a lot of the work myself, but now days don't have as much time working two jobs, being married and having two young duaghters. So I've sold all of my late model Mustangs for now and in July 2013 I picked up my grocery getter / family car my black 2013 PP SHO. I had a Livernois tuner uploaded on it with in 2 weeks :) It works great but I have some questions about it I'll address here on the forums.

Anyway, my name is Christian and I'm happy about being able to get and share info with you all. Here's my SHO.

here's my other current toy...

thanks guys !

so what's the best intake set up ? I've been thinking about a K&N or Airaid CAI but I don't want to pay a lot for minimal gain, or none, or less that stock lol. I'd like to hear the turbos a tad more and up the power on the car of course but I don't like spending a ton of money for minimal gains. Is a K&N drop in filter the best bang for the buck it it even noticeable when installed (sound / power) ? I can maybe rig up a pipe to direct more air into the stock air box and / or trim up the weatherstripping around the stock air box ??

On the exhaust can I add catless or high flow catted downpipes and pick up power and keep the SHO quiet if I keep the stock catback exhaust ? I saw a lot of info about delete all, and / or just the third cat ?? How can I pick up power with exhaust mods and still keep the car quiet ? I like th Borla exhaust it's still quiet high flowing, but pretty expensive for the entire exhaust system.

I think I'll also get a Reische Perrormance t-stat I have them before in a blown '03 Cobra engine and really liked his work on those t-stats. Maybe run some water wetter or purple ice in my coolant afterward and have my tune adjusted for the t-stat to run the fans more.

Lastly I'm not sure how familiar all you guys are with the different Livernois tunes offered but I run a stage 3. Occasionally I can feel the car bog just a tad on kickdowns and then it pulls noticeably harder after it shifts to the next gear up. Anyone else experience that ? From a dead stop at WOT it's perfect but occasionally when it downshifts to 1 it will hit the rev limiter hard from 2-3 shift ? I wonder if I need to have them look at it again ??? Also with my stage 3 tune I can run regular unleaded and it only detonates just a very small amount right when it shift ?? seems like if I were tuned for premium it would have more timing and detonate more ?? I just wonder if my tune is leaving some power on the table if it has enough timing ? any ever need to upgrade / change their spark plugs ?

sorry for all the questions I think that's about it.....for now :)

here's my only video of my SHO...

Welcome, thanks for joining!
Yes, K&N filter is best bang for the buck.
You can definitely do downpipes and pick up power, my catted pipes were worth .2 in the 1/4 mile compared to stock ones.

Welcome!  No worries as far as your grocery-getter; luckily or unluckily, the aftermarket is far wider & deeper for your a**-kicking 68 GT :)

4DR has a writeup somewhere on here (http://www.ecoboostperformanceforum.com/index.php?topic=808) that gives you an idea where the power is to be found.  He also has 170 degree TStats that you can pop in and that LMS (or Unleashed, or other tuners) can tune for.

Generally not recommended to run regular fuel on premium tune due to risk of detonation.  Premium fuel on regular tune would be much safer :)

Nice vid by the way.  Seems like the SHO is held back somewhere as it gets very close to triple digit speeds, still pretty fast for A/C full blast!
2007 Ford Edge SEL, Powerstop F/R Brake Kit, TXT LED 6000K Lo & Hi Beams, W16W LED Reverse Bulbs, 3BSpec 2.5w Map Lights, 5W Cree rear dome lights, 5W Cree cargo light, DTBL LED Taillights

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

yeah my wife puts in whatever gas when she drives it becasue she doesn't beat on it and / or think about my performance modifications, and I happend to notice that the car ran fine on unleaded and only has a very small amount of detonation at the shift every once in awhile but only after beating on it a few times (heat soaked). Made me wonder if I have the proper timing / 93 tune ??? but the power definately seems to fall off in the higher rpms and it's always stroner acceleration in the mid range power.

I may have lifted just a tad at about 120 (need to watch the vid again and the tach if it's accurate anyway..)since I made this pull from the shoulder of a toll road and holding the phone and getting into the main lanes steering through some torque steer etc.. I was distracted somewhat :)

I think I lifted just after the shift at 120 becasue I was trying to decide to slow or go for it all the way. It looks like the tach sits right at 4k for a second then I got back into it.

What is the best way to launch these cars ? I just floored it in "D" :)

did you make any other exhaust changes or just the downpipes ? add much sound ?

I have an exhaust cutout, when open it's pretty loud, when closed it's very close to stock.

Not to highjack the thread but.. Im new here. Obviously... I just traded my 13' GTCS in for a 13' SHO with all the goodies. Only question i have is tune wise. I know there are several threads about it and ive looked threw them but im wondering if the LMS tune is a reliable tune yet. Several people are having problems that i can see. Also ive seen Unleashed makes a tune. Any suggestion on which one to go with? Or should i wait till a revised tune is out?

Thank you for your time!

You might want to re-post this to a tune thread.  You will probably get better answers.   By the way, Welcome!
13' SHO, Non-PP, Tuned by Torrie, Meth injection, 3 bar, 170* stat, custom axle back exhaust, Prosport Boost gauge.
15' F150 Lariat Sport, all the options, 3.5L Eco. (fiancée ride.)
13' GTCS, will be missed.
