17 Inch wheels?

Does anyone make a 17 inch wheel that will fit A 2013 PP?

When I get my car back to the track next year (after the next Livernois visit), I am looking to remove weight and add some MT ET streets as traction was a JOKE at New England Dragway....  The factory rubber just becomes so gummed up with junk, that the car is useless after the first pass.....

Has anyone weighed a 20 inch wheel and tire yet?

THANKS ALL!

They (20" stock wheels/tires) weigh around 62-63 lbs.

I'd hate to see what the sidewall would look like to retain the stock wheel/tire combo.

They weigh that much? Damn. I was looking at some aftermarket wheels that are 40lbs and thought that was too heavy.... Bob do you know what the 19s weigh? They feel MUCH lighter than 60 lbs.

I think there was a debate that losing rotating mass does not transfer over to faster times. And there was ET's and what not to prove it; Someone that was more involved can chime in.

I run 18"s on my Flex.  They are smaller diameter  27" vs 29" and the wheel/tire combo weigh between 44 and 48 lbs.  I have 2 sets of aftermarket wheels/tires.  Haven't weighed my Michelin Pilot Super Sports since they  are nearly worn out, but my Conti DW's went from 48 lbs  down to 44 lbs after 25K, which is what the Pilot's on TSW Interlagos weighed new.  I dropped nearly 80lbs of unsprung weight.  My mileage hasn't suffered at all simply because the engine doesn't work as hard speeding up and slowing down the lower rotating mass weight.  Braking is much better, especiall with my Stop Tech front pads.  Acceleration is better due to lower axle ratio and the lower weight. Have the equivalent of a 3.40 axle ratio.

This is just my opinion... but I am going to continue with these setups when I get new shoes.

I have 17x8 +45 with 275/50/17 m&h drag radials on my car.  Using them as my daily driver wheels now since I work from home.  Back tires are used 235/60/17 Firestone tires I bought for 20 each. Tires are very close to stock diameter and look pretty good, better than I expected and no more traction problems on the street or track. Only thing I need is tps sensors as the light drives me nuts.

19" would be lighter by roughly 6 lbs.

My G8 has 19" wheels with Bridgestones.  They weigh 54 lbs.  Tires are 245-45-19 and wheels are 8" wide.  I later got custom TSW Beyern Multi's that in 8.5" were the same weight with stock tires.  In back I went with 9.5" and 285-40-19's Bridgestone 050A's and they weighed 58 lbs.

Oh I see you are calculating both the wheel and the tire. So a 40 inch rim will still more than likely be heavier than stock.

And thank you!

On 20's the Goodyear RS-A's were 31 lbs on TireRack site.  So if you subtract that from 63 lbs, my Flex rims are 32lbs.  Forged or Rotoforged wheels like TSW Nurburgrings and Interlagos are in the 22-24lb range and the weight is mostly deleted from the thickest part so rotating mass is definitely lighter.
This may not translated into better times at the strip (personally I think it does, at least where I am running smaller diameter tires which lowers my axle ratio from 3.16 to around 3.40) but it definitely helps handling, stopping and fuel mileage.

Would it make sense to have 4 drag radials on the car, versus just the front?

Thanks for the pics!

You can definitely use 4 drag radials but it's really a waste of $$. If you spin the fronts too much you'll go into protect mode. At no point will you spin the rears to the point where you go into protect.
You can run a narrower tire in the back decreasing tire drag and weight, win win.

Actually, some slippery rear tires that only bite after they get spinning a few times would really be the best option when coupled with DR fronts...  And yes... I know they don't exist except in my mind!

If you have a spotter watch you at the strip, they will see your fronts spinning and the rear's not....
