HID preference
« on: October 23, 2020, 12:32:19 AM »
Thinking about changing out the bulbs in my 2016 SHO to something a little brighter. Has anyone had any good results for replacements? Not sure the lumen rating on stock but think the color is around 4500k correct me if I'm wrong..

Hey, did you ever upgrade your HID's?

I have a 2016 as well .... blacked out headlamp covers, making brightness even worse with stock HID.

I was looking at the OSRAM Xenarc 66340 Night Breaker Laser bulbs, now mind you, they are only 4200k as well, but they by far were the highest / brightest of the bunch tested at 25 ft for lumens ....I'm looking for more illumination so I can see down the road better, not necessarily blue light color....

If you upgraded, let me know what you did and how you like them ...

Thanks!

you can now get LED versions of the HID bulbs (some wiring involved) such as from DZG, that have worked splendidly on Edge/MKX conversions.
https://smile.amazon.com/DZG-Headlight-Bulbs-Bright-Warranty/dp/B07PMGPBYM/

there are plug n play versions as well, with lower intensity.
2007 Ford Edge SEL, Powerstop F/R Brake Kit, TXT LED 6000K Lo & Hi Beams, W16W LED Reverse Bulbs, 3BSpec 2.5w Map Lights, 5W Cree rear dome lights, 5W Cree cargo light, DTBL LED Taillights

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

Those are the bulbs that I am using and I love them. I would also suggest putting clear headlights in. Obviously, you are experiencing the reason they aren't blacked out from the factory.
