Epp hot pipes air intake help
« on: March 26, 2020, 03:43:43 PM »
I'm currently installing my epp dual feed intake and hot pipes and I'm stuck!! I can't figure out how to remove the rear turbo hose so that I can install the new "s" silicone hose that comes with the kit. I can feel the hose clamp and I can see it from underneath the car but I can't get a socket up from underneath the car.

If you have any advice, please let me know!!!

Remove the rear hose from the TOP of the motor with a 8mm or 7mm socket IIRC and Preferably a 1/4 ratchet and swivel extender combo. When loose try pulling and twisting the hose off by hand. Z

I tried for awhile then I uninstalled the bov pipe to the rear turbo to give me more room but I still couldn't get to it. So I jacked the car up and I can see the clamp from underneath and wherever I put a socket to it the clamp is too close to the turbo so the socket is hitting the side of the turbo and not giving me a good attachment to the clamp bolt.

I would try to use a long flat head screw driver and try to push the hose clamp until accessible. Z

Thanks Z! I'll try again in the morning because I had to stop and take a break before I broke something.

Both Hose clamps should be facing towards the TOP of the engine from the factory.. Best of luck and keep us updated. Z

True! But accessed both clamps for turbo and charge pipe from up Top without a hitch. Z

Mine was facing straight down. Impossible to get to from above.
Firestorm hpfp, catted downpipes, Corsa catback, 160 degree thermostat, 3 bar map, Gearhead E30 tune, Gearhead intercooler and upgraded trans mounts.

Mine was facing  down as well. I used a long flat blade screw driver at a bit of an angle to get on it. Once you start to get it loose you can move it around a bit to finish up. Make sure you put a bit of lube on the new coupler when going back on. As a practice I never do that but I found it a must on this. I never figured out why, but a week or so later I had a 19 non PP on my lift at work and it seemed like that area on the rear turbo was wide open as compared to my 13 PP. That brings up another  point, if you're working on  jackstands, get them as high as possible to buy yourself some working room.

I have an 18 and I wish mine was wide open.
