PRE-SHOW, LOAD-IN, SET-UP PICS......

Wow! Just escaped the severe weather that rolled through yesterday, prior to official "roll-in".

Most of us, including myself, had to burn off fuel as the Fire Marshall was only allowing entrants to have 1/8th of a tank of fuel, or less.

We had a blast as we were all drag racing up and down several times, and I had won all of the races with the exception of a heavily modded 'Vette that sprayed nitrous on me.

Hahaha......

The gasps and comments afterwards (about my car) were along the lines of....

"Holy sh!t I can't believe that's a Taurus!"
"What are you running (as far as fuel) we could smell like racing fluid"
"Dude that's insane, we never would've thought a Taurus can be like that"

......and on and on. Good times.

Anyhow, I captured 85 total pre-show pics yesterday. I won't post all 85 here, but here's the link to my Photobucket abum where you can all view tem on your own.

I walked around and captured these about 1/2-way through the roll-in period, and only about 1/2 the entrants had arrived at that time.

I'll capture more today and re-post later.

Here's a couple of mine just for sh!t's and giggles...... Enjoy!

Positioned, and partially set up myself:

Drag Racing Pit-Row..... hahaha:

Wish me luck. Lot's of insane cars here. Show officially begins today. I'll keep my fingers crossed. Either way, looks like this'll be yet another memorable event.

The newly added lighting seems to match the fountain head on the DUB poster in the background.  All those other contestants will be staring at their muskets while you unload your machine guns!

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

Well..... good news is, I ended up taking a 3rd Place Trophy for "Outstanding 4DR".

The bad news is/was, that DUB Staff openly admitted to not having the foresight to break down the awards into more distinct categories (such as by MFG'er, I.E. Ford, Chevy, Dodge, etc.) as a result, there were over 70 competitors in my category of "Mild 4DR".

So I guess to walk away with a 3rd Place Trophy out of 70 plus competitors, at a show of this magnitude, I consider myself thankful.

Thanks to my friend Ginger, for having made the trek out to this event and working my car as a model for a period of time. Very grateful for her talents as well, and she reports that she was "successful" in promoting new business for herself as a result of doing this show.

I added more pictures in the same Photobucket album that I linked y'all to previously (about an addt'l 70 pics or so.....) most were of cars I hadn't captured during the previous day's "roll-in" and a good chunk were of Ginger modeling both my car, and her having taken a couple of shots with the owner of Shockwave Customs heavily modified, blue Corvette.

So have yourselves a lil looksee loo when time permits!

3 out of 70 is not bad at all considering that you were pretty much in a class by yourself.

Nice and congrats....I agree with you, there should have been more thought and breakdown the awards, but you certainly can be proud to take 3rd with in this competative field.

Glad you guys/gals enjoyed the thread.

The show itself was even more enjoyable. Lots of prep work involved, but still fun nonetheless. :ok:
