Hello, I have had a LR wheel bearing making some noise for a while, and I decided to fix it this week. I tore into the job and got everything apart to the point of pulling the bad bearing out of the hub knuckle. I tried everything including prying, banging, heating, air chiseling, etc.
I was reluctant to try a puller because I didn't want to push against the CV half-shaft. I finally called in my son who is a Diesel Mechanic, and the first thing he says is "why don"t we just pull the knuckle and I'll take it to work and press it out?"
I had not even considered that, and after 10 minutes we had it out!

He said it came out easy as pie!
This weekend I'll put it all back together.
