After Market BOV Recommendations....?

Okay, so pursuant the thread on 4DRHTRD's discussion / research / development of the hard "hot pipes"

(see/refer to this thread below)......

http://www.ecoboostperformanceforum.com/index.php?topic=615.15

I would like to introduce a new thread on any product recommendations as it relates to after market BOV's.

Since 4DR recently stated that there is NO performance difference between rolling with two BOV's (I.E. the factory setup) versus a single BOV (I.E. 4DR's new hard hot pipe design)......

I am wondering if any of the members of the community have any recommendations on after market BOV's?

I performed some research on my own, but am still a little bit confused.   :boom:

1st, does anyone know what design are the factory BOV's? Are they "push" or "pull" design?

2nd, what should one be looking for as it relates to after market BOV's?

3rd, it seems HKS is like the industry standard for after market BOV's.

4th, (and this is directed mostly towards 4DR) but what type of BOV should one be shopping for as it relates to the soon to be released hard hot pipe upgrade?

Thanks in advance, for any experiences, recommendations, or anything of the like, as it relates to this particular thread.

I've always wondered about the electronic factory BOV vs the passive BOV you're talking about.  Wouldn't having control of it be better than something static?

It's an electronic BoV, not vacuum actuated at all which has to do with push vs pull

Most of it's brand preference, I like Tial and that's the one I'm picking up

I would disagree whole heartedly but if you think there's cult followings for tuners don't even get started on BoV manufacturers...

I will be providing options for BoV's with the pipes!

Stay away from Greddys.

I had a Type S and a Type RS both on my Evo, and they leaked under high boost.   The Type S did sound awesome though.

I was looking at going to the HKS route.

So 4DR.....

If the factory BOV's are Electric, then what, if anything will need to be done on the 'end users' end as it relates to eliminating those, and instead, implementing in it's place, a single, after market BOV?

I guess what i'm wondering is, will there be anything that needs to be done from a tuning perspective? Will the ECM go haywire, or throw a CEL (much like rear O2's being removed and not being programmed off).

Does the ECM even monitor the electric aspects of each factory BOV?

Sorry for all the questions, but I suspect i'm not the only one with them. Maybe just the only one brave enough to present them and ask them.

Thanks once again.

Initially we'll have to follow the ecoboost truck example and leave the factory BoV attached to the harness so no codes are thrown. I'm working on a harness and resistor to be able to replace the factory BoV and not throw a code.
I picked up my Tial Q today for my setup, I'm going to have to figure out what I want to offer but I really like the Tial BoV and I've been using them for years, also if Full-Race trust them for all their kits I do to.

I'll look at offering different flanges for people to choose their own BoV, we'll see for now.

Well that seems kind of silly.

To just up and leave the factory BOV's dangling around within the engine compartment.

Visual presentation (of the engine compartment) is equally important to me, as is the performance increases.

I may hold off then until your hard, hot pipe upgrade allows for incorporation of the factory BOV's.

Well, at least that's my initial consideration.

I can still be swayed as developments occur.

Have to make the computer happy or you can't drive your car....
The factory bov scenario will take awhile due to having to replicate the factory mount in cad then machining them . You can always take the factory bov out at shows until I get a harness made.

I kept the factory BOV but I have replaced the noise generator with a HKS SSQV III. It's quiet most of the time but it will be loud if I'm punching it.
