Emissions rejection

I think it's tune-related and I've already reached out to my tuner for guidance but figured I'd post here to see if there were any other thoughts.

Just took my car in for emissions testing and it got rejected based on the cat converter, heated O2 and O2 system monitors being in a "not ready" state. I have 3 bar MAP, WM injection and catted down pipes as my mods, and of course a tune. I'm hoping it can be addressed by a simple adjustment to the tune but was also wondering if just inserting the 2 bar MAP and returning to a stock tune to go through emissions would be a viable option given the other mods I have.

Did you recently reflashed the ecu.

This is the drive cycle that's need for emissions ready status.

It's been over a month since I went to the warm weather tune, so I think the drive cycle is clear.

BBOX you will need to load the "Stock Tune"in order for the car to be emission readiness for testing,  your tune has the rear 02 sensors turned "off"that's why you did not pass.,just put back the stock tune and drive it on the highway at a steady speed 50+mph for roughly 30miles and you should be ready,if you have Torque pro it will let you know exactly when the vehicle is ready for testing and best of luck to ya.  Z

I have Torque Pro but haven't been using it, guess it's time to correct that. I'll do this next week, the lines were insane today and I've got until the end of June so I've got some time, thanks!

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

I guess Torrie can always send you a re-vised Tune and enable the rear 02 sensors based on your condition prior to testing.  Z

mine didn't get rejected based on o2 sensor, as lme doesn't turn off atleast i don't think so, but the p1000 dtc- readiness code.actually didn't get an engine problem lights. so took her back to stock, replaced 3 bar w/ 2bar & still a p1000. so manu found the following & worked like a champ
Reset codes with the MyCal. Follow the readiness monitors drive cycle (steps outlined in the manual), see if the P1000 comes back.

If the vehicle's engine or transmission has just been serviced, or the
battery has recently run down or been replaced, the OBD-II system may
indicate that the vehicle is not ready for I/M testing. To determine if the
vehicle is ready for I/M testing, turn the ignition key to the on position
for 15 seconds without cranking the engine. If the service engine
soon indicator blinks eight times, it means that the vehicle is not
ready for I/M testing; if the service engine soon indicator stays on
solid, it means that the vehicle is ready for I/M testing.

The OBD-II system is designed to check the emission control system
during normal driving. A complete check may take several days. If the
vehicle is not ready for I/M testing, the following driving cycle consisting
of mixed city and highway driving may be performed:

15 minutes of steady driving on an expressway/highway followed by
20 minutes of stop-and-go driving with at least four 30-second idle periods.

Allow the vehicle to sit for at least eight hours without starting the
engine. Then, start the engine and complete the above driving cycle. The
engine must warm up to its normal operating temperature. Once started,
do not turn off the engine until the above driving cycle is complete. If
the vehicle is still not ready for I/M testing, the above driving cycle will
have to be repeated.

Luckily you have the PPE downpipes.  I have been reading up on all of the excellent advice given here and here's what I've come up with for my own purposes...

PPE catted downpipes gives you the ability to return to stock programming and not have a CEL or run a tune and not have them turn off the rear O2 sensors.  So, you really have two good options.

Unless I'm missing something, I don't see any value to the other catted downpipes on the market.  They won't pass emissions due to the need for the rear O2's to be turned off and you can't flash it to stock for dealer visits since you would then be taking your car to them with the CEL on.  That's a red flag to the dealer.

My thought is that, if you have to change the downpipes for dealer or emission test purposes anyway, you might as well have no cats as to have ones with cats that still triggers the CEL.

I am debating between PPE catted and any brand of non-catted for my car.

Am I missing anything?

My research leads me to believe that LMS tunes turn off the rear sensors.  Would love to know if I'm wrong though.

I also believe their catted downpipes will trigger the CEL otherwise.  The cat's they use are a race type that are good for performance, but not quite clean enough to satisfy the factory programming.

I was kinda hoping he'd just do that but meh, flipping the MAPs and flashing back to stock for a few days isn't a big thing, plus it gives me a reason to poke around in Torque Pro so that's not too terrible.

So other manufacturers downpipes (livernois or unleashed) won't pass emission even if returned to a stock tune?

I'm pretty sure they both state for "Off road use"only and it also depends if your State is strict on testing.  Z
