Front end clicking sound of death

Well I discovered my 2013 SHO makes the dreaded front end sound. I have read several owners post about getting this problem fixed at their dealership. What should I tell my service writer? If someone had this problem repaired successfully I would like to hear. Thanks!!!

Depending on the clicking, but the most common TSB I know of is for the Thrust washers I think.  This fixed the first clicking for me, but later on I had a front wheel hub assembly replaced.  My service dealer seemed to know what the issue was right away when I described it to them.

The washers made the loudest clicking of the 2.  Like a metal ting; 2 or 3 in a row when accelerating.

It makes a metal on metal ting-I started my car and turned the wheel left and right and that's when you can hear it. I started hearing it when I would drive with my windows down always when I'm turning.

And that would be the indicator of a hub/bearing assembly in need of replacement, even though it may seem just the washers would do the job.

If tuned:  Take note of the strategy code as you return to stock (including 3 bar MAP to 2 bar MAP) -> take car in & get it serviced -> check strategy code when you get car back -> have tuner update your tune if the strategy code has changed -> reload tune -> ENJOY!

I second the wheel bearing hub assembly with what you described.

I had mine performed last summer and they installed new thrust wahers and wheel hubs(wheel bearings)but after i suggested to the shop forman that by only changing the washers its only going to be a temporary fix and then he suggested to perform the washers and hubs as a courtesy,mine was audible primarily on the drivers side,which instead they did both sides,the TSB affects mostly 13 PP SHO'S from my understanding,maybe i can try to find the work order and post it for you.

When my was performed last summer,relatively the magority of the dealers werent to familiar with the issue,if you make an appt know i am pretty sure that your issues will fixed because know they are well aware of the problem and also have a TSB so basically would not worry to much as long as you mention that there are many people with the same issue and was finally fixed by changing the thrust washers and the wheel hubs,here's a thread devoted to the issue,good luck and keep us updated. http://www.ecoboostperformanceforum.com/Themes/zentoa_20b/images/topic/veryhot_post.gif

Yup, tell them you need new hubs.  My work order sheet looks exactly like Zs:






Hell, print these out and say I just saved you a ton of work.  But I'm sure they don't like that, as it takes away billable hours they can use for troubleshooting....

I updated the work order for better info,regarding front hubs,license plate assembly and the half shaft recall.

Took them a day to do the washer TSB, still not fixed, and then diagnose the hubs were producing the noise.  Then needed to order hubs, which got here next day, car was ready at end of 2nd day.  They put me in a rental at Ford's expense.

The important factor is like Munkee stated regarding having the parts in stock,if your appt is 8am you should be done around lunch time,cause my dealer only had one hub and had to order the other one for the next day,another isssue to take into consideration is having the correct wheel hub for the Performance package,its different than the non pp and more expensive.
